With every dollar raised in Southern Arizona staying here to benefit local programs for the littlest and most vulnerable among us, the resources help provide life-saving equipment and vital health services for children served at TMC for Children.
Tucson Medical Center has been part of Children’s Miracle Network for nearly 30 years.
The 2012 drive topped last year’s effort, which raised $356,000.
“We are so grateful to Walmart and Sam’s Clubs for the energy and commitment they demonstrated throughout the campaign,” said Erika Grasse, the director of Children’s Miracle Network.
“And we also are grateful to the customers and members who responded when asked to buy a virtual Miracle balloon during the effort.”
This year’s gift will help support the Block By Block, Miracles Happen capital campaign, which funded a $12.5 million renovation and expansion of TMC for Children that included private rooms, state-of-the-art equipment and a friendly environment for kids.
Walmart, which is the largest corporate partner for Children’s Miracle Network to date, has been a corporate sponsor since 1987. Nationally, Walmart and Sam’s Clubs have raised more than $530 million in that time.
Rick Velasco, market manager for Walmart Market 366 in Southern Arizona, said although this year’s campaign has concluded, he looks forward to continuing to support Children’s Miracle Network.
“This partnership has been in place for several years now and my team and I have had several opportunities to see first-hand the service and positive impact Children’s Miracle Network makes in people’s lives in our community,” Velasco said.
“Our entire staff from all our stores are just so proud and happy to be able to support and be a part of this great cause.”
