Two TMC nurses garner Nurse of the Year honors from March of Dimes Arizona

Two Tucson Medical Center nurses were honored Saturday night at the March of Dimes Arizona Chapter 2011 Nurse of the Year Awards at the Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix.

Karen Malik was named Mentor of the Year and Pat Brown was named Pediatric/Perinatal Patient Care Nurse of the Year.

Both were among hundreds of nurses throughout Arizona nominated by their patients, peers and administrators in one or more of 13 different categories. Three other TMC nurses were finalists, including:

  • Linda Wojtowicz, Distinguished Nurse of the Year
  • Laura McRee, Research/Advancing the Profession of Nursing
  • Mary Verplank, Perinatal/Pediatric
