Tucson Medical Center’s Marshall Conference Center was bustling Thursday with activity from the fourth annual Clinical Quality Days. Each of the 29 poster presentations on display represented a different clinical area, and highlighted the great effort and dedication that goes toward improving the lives of patients.
“It’s an amazing event that has grown from a few lone posters to an unbelievable (and competitive!) display of little known facts around clinical quality at TMC!” said Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Office Linda Wojtowicz.
Wojtowitz along with Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Krupp, Chief Nursing Officer Cheryl Young, Infection Control Director Sandi Baus had the honor of viewing all the presentations and making a number of awards listed below.
“Quality” award for best use of the performance improvement process with an improved outcome
Winners (tie): Case Management – Building Bridges from Hospital to Home
NICU – Building Better Babies
Runners Up: Peds/ PICU – Asthma Initiative
Unit 500 – Unit/Hospitalist Throughput and Patient Satisfaction
“Best Visual Presentation” for tying in the theme with the visual presentation
Winner: Hospice – Building a Veteran – Centric Culture
Runners Up: Pain Collaborative – Improving HCAHPS scores related to pain
Respiratory Therapy – The Building Blocks of Asthma Education
“Judges Choice” award for incorporating one or more of the TMC values into the quality improvement project with a positive patient outcome
Winners (tie): ED – MRSA Screening
Unit 650/750 – Extreme Makeover – Patient Edition
Runner Up: Ped/ PICU – Asthma Initiative
“Best Informational” award for a poster presentation based on a quality intervention such as an educational aspect or new process implementation without data.
Winner: WOC – MIST Therapy
Runners Up: ACCU – Progressive Mobility
Outpatient Procedures – Here’s lookin’ at you Kid(ney)
Pharmacy was awarded the “Quintessential Quality” award for the overall quality presentation data-driven, informational, visual presentation.
