Yesterday morning, Kelly Oursler, manager of TMC Hospice called an “emergency meeting” for staff. Unbeknownst to 11, the “emergency” was to surprise them with a white rose and the announcement that they have been named Heart of Hospice honorees.

On Saturday, March 17, in recognition of the 15th Desert Toyota of Tucson Rock ‘N Rodeo, TMC Hospice is honoring 15 Heart of Hospice supporters.

This award recognizes physicians, staff, volunteers and donors who have shown dedication to TMC Hospice and have provided outstanding physical, emotional, spiritual or financial support for patients and their families.

According to the nomination form, “Honorees uphold and contribute to the mission of TMC Hospice: helping those with life-limiting illnesses walk their path of life and receive compassion, dignity and love.”

The honorees notified yesterday were staff members Wylie Baker, Nicole  Bernstein, Rhoda Cummings, Gloria  Cushman-Schmidt, Donna Kelleher, Lynn Rumsey and Mary Steele; physicians Drs. Larry Lincoln and Donna Fulton; and volunteers Karen Simonic and Marilyn Wolfarth.

The other four honorees were notified separately. They are volunteers Betty Cochran, Elin Ozdemir and Nancie Roahrig, and Rock ‘N Rodeo benefactor Desert Toyota 0f Tucson, under the leadership of Brent Berge and Jerry Cannella.

Honorees will be feted during the Western-themed gala held at JW Marriott Starr Pass.
