“I Choose Community” – Another TMC example

The organizational values identified by TMC employees (Dedication, Compassion, Integrity, Community) are among the reasons people ‘Choose Well’ when they choose TMC. Here’s the latest example from TMC’s internal campaign celebrating employees who choose to demonstrate these values:

Yomy Diaz works with community projects as part of her job every day. Over the past decade her roles have evolved to her current position as Community Outreach Specialist for TMC, with a focus on child safety.

“I choose to work out in the community doing community outreach because I enjoy the feeling of educating families, caregivers and children about child passenger safety.”

She also coordinates Safe Kids Tucson, which is a TMC-based coalition of community public safety entities. In addition to child car seats and booster seats, she deals with several major issues that help protect local children, such as pedestrian safety, bike helmet use, drowning prevention and more.

“We do a lot of outreach in the schools, staring in preschool up to about 6th grade.  I go to a lot of the preschools, the Head Starts, and they are so willing to learn at that age – whatever you explain to them or educate them on, they are the ones that run to their moms and say ‘Mom, this is what we need to do!’  They are so excited, and they want to do the right thing.”
