Donors rocked some line dancing while raising about $195,000 to benefit TMC Hospice at the 15th annual Rock N’Rodeo event last weekend.

The March 17 event was the biggest Rock’N Rodeo ever, selling out with more than 600 guests at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa.

Some guests coveted the rich array of auction items while others sought their luck at the casino tables. Others kicked up their heels and tried a turn at line dancing to the lively beat of the Marble Heart band.

Major support comes from title sponsor Desert Toyota and co-sponsor Community Partnership of Southern Arizona, along with many other businesses and individuals.

“It was a lot of fun because there was so much going on,” said Jodi Bain, a member of the TMC Foundation Board. “Everyone had something to do and people were smiling.”

Bain said she was nearly moved to tears during the salute to 15 physicians, staff members, volunteers and donors. In celebration of its 15th year, the honorees received Heart of Hospice awards for outstanding physical, emotional, spiritual or financial support for patients and their families

“Everyone at some point will expire, so to have someone near you to help you through that transition and to give you comfort, that’s really important,” Bain said.

The annual event benefits TMC Hospice, providing emergency funds to cover services to families in need and complementary therapies often not covered by insurance. Proceeds also support the We Honor Veterans program at TMC Hospice to better serve and honor veterans needing end-of-life care.
