Xena – the pet therapy kitty, not the warrior princess – made headlines this weekend for the pet therapy work she does here at Tucson Medical Center.
Xena’s human partner, Carol Kurlander, rescued Xena as a kitten from the Humane Society and saw right away that the calm, friendly feline had the potential for the kind of work dominated by those of the canine variety.
“Cats are usually more independent,” Kurlander said to the reporter from the Arizona Daily Star.
