Zumba Classes Thursday at TMC to Benefit Celis Family

Estella Van Cleve, leading a zumba class at a community event this year, is holding a zumba benefit Thursday night for the Celis family fund.

If music and movement are therapeutic, then a Zumba benefit to support the family of Isabel Mercedes Celis might be all we can do at a time when we all feel so helpless.

Certified Zumba instructor Estella Van Cleve, a patient care technician in the emergency services department at Tucson Medical Center, said her heart hurts for the Celis family.

“I can’t even imagine what they’re going through,” she said, noting she will donate any proceeds from two Thursday night classes to the family to show her support.

Isabel’s mother, Rebecca, works as a nurse at Tucson Medical Center.

“There’s so much stress in the community right now,” Van Cleve said. “Music makes people happy and I think it’s a good therapy for all of us during this time.”

A minimum donation of $5 is requested. She also suggests bringing water and a towel to the hour-long classes on Thursday, May 10.

The first begins at 5 p.m. in the Rincon conference room of the Alamo building, on the north side of the TMC campus.

The second begins at 6:45 p.m. at the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson, 2650 N. Wyatt Drive.
