Arizona Public Media Reports on Hospital Cost Burden

Arizona Public Media this week covered the financial hit hospitals are taking statewide.

In part because of the state’s cuts in coverage for low-wage earning residents, hospitals are paying more to cover the cost of treating the uninsured and others who cannot pay for services.

Recently, the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association surveyed its members and found an 85 percent increase in charity care in March from the numbers a year ago at that time.
