Local businesses, physician groups, and friends of TMC stepped back in to the 60’s to support TMC for Women on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the annual Gala.  The event drew 725 guests, marking the largest Gala turnout to date.  There was also an impressive showing of sponsorship support from businesses across Southern Arizona, including Old Pueblo Anesthesia and Radiology Ltd.

Guests enjoyed a savory meal while being entertained by “Ed Sullivan.”  The live auction raised $21,600.  The final amount raised during the event will be released later this week.  VP and Chief Development Officer Michael Duran said, “Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this possible.  We are so humbled by the support of the community.  Every time we ask, the community steps up, and the Gala is no different.”

The money raised will help fund the purchase of life-saving medical equipment, like the da Vinci Surgical System, which allows physicians to perform complex procedures through just a few tiny incisions and get patients back to their lives faster.  The donations will also provide educational outreach for our community and for physicians and staff who specialize in women’s care.  Finally, the money will allow TMC to continue providing services such as the TMC Breast Health Program, which has covered more than 5,800 mammograms for uninsured women in our community since 1998.

In lieu of guest gifts, the TMC Foundation decided to provide free screening mammograms to 70 women in our community.

  1. Donna M Fulton, MD says:

The women leaders of the TMC Foundation donate their time and effort to TMC with unending competence. They are busy women, family women, professional, well intentioned women who are giving to the community in many ways every day. This event is successful in raising money every year and touted “the best party of the year” because of the work of these women. They bring an asset to TMC and the community that we appreciate and regard highly.
