Donor Network honors TMC for outstanding partnership

Representatives of the Donor Network of Arizona came to Tucson Medical Center to celebrate the hospital’s leadership in supporting donation of organs, eyes and tissues.

TMC is now recognized as an outstanding medical center for its support of the Donor Network of Arizona. In addition, TMC’s Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, or PACU, is singled out as an outstanding partner for their support of the network’s donor families.

TMC has helped to register a good portion of the two-million Arizonans who are on the donor registry, and has been recognized for the most donor registrations in 2012 for a facility with more than 400 beds.

The celebration also recognizes TMC for its Silver Medal of Honor for excellence in organ donation, awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at the recent National Learning Congress held in Texas.

The Donor Network of Arizona shared its Arizona Donor Quilt at the TMC ceremony, and recognized members of the Gomez family for their support of organ donation following the death of a loved one.  The family received a specially crafted ‘Donate Life’ Ben’s Bell.
