FC Tucson Soccer overran TMC for Children for half an hour July 17 – a friendly invasion by Tucson’s semi-professional development league.  The soccer players handed out posters, signed autographs, and gave away special miniature soccer balls to some of the patients in the pediatric unit.  In at least one case, the patient’s soccer-playing friends and family members made a special visit so they could meet the FC Tucson athletes.

The soccer team’s visit to TMC for Children was arranged to take place before a special presentation on Soccer Injuries, designed for local soccer coaches and team leaders.  The event featured surgeons Dr. Luis Piedrahita and Dr. Brian Nielsen of Tucson Orthopaedic Institute (TOI), discussing the prevention and care of sports injuries, especially those related to soccer.

Local soccer aficionados gathered for the presentation in the lobby of the new TMC Orthopaedic and Surgical Tower, which recently opened with new surgery suites, patient rooms, and a spacious TOI outpatient clinic.
