March of Dimes recognizes TMC nurses among Arizona’s champs

Two of Tucson Medical Center’s nurse executives received top honors from the March of Dimes Arizona Chapter at their 10th Annual Nurse of the Year Awards Gala.

The statewide event was held Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix, helping to mark the 75th anniversary of the March of Dimes and its legacy of research, vaccines, advocacy and medical breakthroughs.

The Distinguished Nurse Award went to Elizabeth Maish, TMC vice president and Chief Nursing Officer.

The Leadership Award went to Ginny Goldner, director of Inpatient Nursing Services.

They were chosen to win the prestigious awards from a select list of nominees from throughout Arizona. Two other TMC nurses were among those included on the March of Dimes’ elite register of nominees:

  • Bev Rusing, clinical nurse educator, Nursing Services & Pediatrics, was a finalist for the Chamberlain College of Nursing Clinical Educator Award
  • Stephanie Miner, a new-grad nurse on Unit 700, was a finalist for the March of Dimes Rising Star Award

This year’s March of Dimes Awards Gala theme, Celebrate the Caring Spirit, paid tribute to nurses throughout Arizona who continue to deliver the highest standard of care to their patients.
