Cardiovascular specialists host Community Education Day Feb. 7

Tucson PV TCV logoTopics ranging from clinical updates and screenings to explorations of lifestyle and laughter await those willing to dedicate a full day to a consumer-level cardiovascular colloquium.

The first annual Tucson CardioVascular Community Education Day is on the calendar for Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, 15000 N. Secret Springs Dr. in Marana.

Free health screenings include varicose veins, PAD, abdominal aortic aneurysm and Body Mass Index.  Interactive lectures include ‘Laughter Yoga,’ ‘Lifestyle, the Forgotten Medicine,’ ‘Nutrition,’ ‘Running and Health,’ ‘Sleep and Its Impact on Health,’ and ‘Waking Up to the New You.’  After the event, participants are invited to join a 5K walk/run on the Dove Mountain grounds, starting at 5 p.m.

Dr. Gulshan Sethi, TMC and UA cardiothoracic surgeon (and Tucson’s reigning guru of laughter yoga), is the keynote speaker. Dr. Luis Leon and Dr. John Pacanowski of Pima Vascular are course directors, and Pima Vascular is the presenting sponsor. An impressive list of lifestyle and medical experts will make guest presentations.

All the interactive lecture sessions, screening activities, optional run/walk and buffet lunch are free to the public attendees.  Approximately 50 seats are available and people interested in attending the all-day session must call the listed number to register.
